A quick tutorial of how to install YouTube on Fire Phone and have it up and running
Do you want to be able to use YouTube on Fire Phone? Does Amazon Fire Phone have YouTube? By default it doesn’t, but you can add it to your phone.
YouTube is the most popular video service in the world and I don’t see the reason why you shouldn’t use it on your Fire Phone.
Even though Fire phone by default does not have any Google apps (like Gmail, Google Maps or YouTube), you can quickly sideload these apps to your device.
The best news is that you don’t need to root your device to make it work.
Whether we like Google or not, we DO need Google apps on our phones, including on our Fire Phone. Installing YouTube on Fire phone is a very simple and quick process.
All you need to do is side-load it to your phone. Let’s get started.
Allow installation of non-Amazon apps to install YouTube on Fire Phone
For security reasons, Amazon by default does not allow you to install apps outside of the Amazon Appstore.
That is why you have to change that setting at first if you haven’t done this already.
You need to go to the Settings > Applications & Parental Controls > Allow non-Amazon app installation.
Take a look at the screenshot below to see how to do it:
Click on Allow non-Amazon app installation and make sure it’s OK. Click OK to dismiss the warning.
Install Google Play services on your Fire Phone
In the case of installing Google Maps on Fire Phone, you only had to sideload the right file and install it.
In the case of YouTube, you need to at first install 4 specific Google APK files (and Google Play store) which will let your Fire Phone install YouTube.
You can find the full tutorial here: How to install Google Play on Fire Phone
Basically you need to download the four files (you can download them here) and install them in the following order:
- Google Account Manager
- Google Play Services
- Google Services Framework
- Google Play Store
Once you are done, you can proceed with installing YouTube on Fire Phone.
Download YouTube APK To Computer
What you need to do know is download the APK file with the YouTube app. You can either download it to your computer or directly to your Fire Phone.

I am showing you how to download the YouTube app to your computer and then transfer it to your Fire Phone.
- Go to the APKMirror (the website which lets you download various versions of thousands of apps as APK files to your computer) and download the YouTube app. You can also download the exact same version of YouTube I have on my Fire.
- Connect your Fire to your computer with the use of the USB cable. Copy and paste the downloaded file with the YouTube app to your Fire Phone.
Install YouTube On Fire Phone
We are almost there. What you need to do right now is:
- Install File Manager on your Fire phone to to access and open the YouTube app APK file you have transferred to your Fire Phone.
- Open the YouTube app and proceed with installation (like shown in the screenshot below).
Update Google Play services if needed
If you haven’t installed Google Play services before, your Fire Phone may ask you to update Google Play services and Google Play Stres once you run YouTube for the first time. You might see something like that:
Don’t worry. You just have to follow the instructions on the screen (update Google Play services, confirm its terms & conditions and add your Google account if you haven’t done it yet).
Once you complete these steps, you will be able to use YouTube on your Fire Phone.
Enjoy YouTube On Fire Phone
YouTube has been installed on your Fire Phone, so you can now open the app and see if it works. If you installed everything correctly and signed in into your Google account, you should see a regular YouTube app like in the screenshot below:
