Let’s Discover & Explore The Best Launchers For Fire Phone
Are you a Fire phone user who wants to erase the carousel of your phone? Do you have problems getting used to Fire OS? How about the possibility of chaging the wallpaper on your Fire phone? No problem!
In this section I will show you some of the best Fire phone launchers that will make your Fire phone look like and behave like an Android phone.
How To Install A Custom Launcher On Fire Phone
You install a custom launcher on Fire phone just like you install (or sideload) any other app that’s not from Amazon. At first, you need to allow installation of apps not from Amazon (which is by default forbidden).
You can install your custom launcher either manually (by transferring its APK file to your Fire), or you can download it from an alternative app store (like Mobogenie) or from Google Play.
Unfortunately, you won’t find any alternative Fire launcher in the Amazon Appstore, so you need to install it to your Fire phone using one of the above methods.
If you don’t know how to download and install external apps to your Fire phone, read these tutorials first:
- How To Install Google Play On Fire Phone where you will learn how to have Google Play up and running on your Fire phone. It will be useful since some of the below launchers have Google Play set as their default app store. If you have Google Play on your Fire phone, you will be able to install new launchers directly from it.
- How To Sideload Apps To Fire Phone where you will learn how to sideload apps to your Fire phone. You can download launchers using your desktop computer and then sideload them to your Fire.
- How To Transfer Files To Fire Phone where you will learn how to manually transfer files to your Fire (including APK files).
Install Home Switcher At First
These launchers are not designed (by default) to work with Fire phone. You can encounter some problems, i.e. they may stop responding and not work properly. That’s why you should always install Home Switcher at first.
This app lets you change the default launcher any time you want. In short, it will let you reverse to the Fire launcher in case your new launcher starts to misbehave.
- You can download Home Swicher here.
- You can also install Home Smack app (click to download). It lets you manage all kinds of default apps (not only launchers).
Five Best Fire Phone Launchers
Fire phone home switch installed? Let’s discover and explore launchers!
There are several interesting Fire phone launchers. Each one has its pros and cons. Let’s take a look at 5 best launchers so that you can choose the best one for you and your Fire.
Remember that these are Android launchers, so not all of them work exactly we would want them to. Most of them have one or two problems: you are either stuck with the black wallpaper, or a limited number of working widgets.
However, some of them INDEED let you change Fire phone system wallpaper, which is one of their greatest advantages.
Below each launcher you have short description, screenshots from my Fire phone and a direct download link.
CLauncher is a very popular Android launcher with more than one million downloads. Its main features include: speed, lots of customization and personalization options available, minimal battery consumption (thanks to one-click junk files cleaning), and custom iOS syle lock screen.
Most of its features indeed work on Fire phone. You can download and install different themes (that change icons), add widgets (you’ve got a very nice whether widget), clean residual files with one tap, and get quick access to settings.
Unfortunately, you are stuck with the black wallpaper.
Lighting Launcher Extreme
Thank you Brett for letting me know about this launcher!
This is probably one of the best launchers for Fire phone now. This is also a very advanced launcher, so I would recommend it only to advanced users.
Its main features include: lots of possibilities of configuration, script support, possibility of placing objects anywhere on the desktop (left, right, above, and below), possibility of placing widgets in folders, possibility of moving, scaling and rotating any object, and much more.
It is a great launcher for Fire phone, because it supports both custom wallpapers, and widgets.
Before being able to use wallpapers, you do have to go into General settings, then turn on expert mode. Now you should be able to have wallpapers by changing the desktop wallpaper, not the system wallpaper. Widgets will work right out of the box.
Solo Launcher is another good Android launcher you can use on your Fire phone. This is a very popular launcher with more than 50 million users.
Its main features include: possibility of cleaning your system (RAM) to make your phone faster, lots of themes, smart search, hundreds of customizations, and much more.
Solo Launcher works OK on my Fire phone (it didn’t cause any problems). Unfortunately, like with lots of other launchers, you cannot change the desktop wallpaper and add widgets.
However, you can easily add folders, and apps to the desktop as well as apply some effects (change slide effect, layout or size). Its default app store is Google Play, so I recommend installing it before using this launcher.
Buzz Launcher is yet another highly-customizable Android launcher you can use on your Fire phone.
Its main features include: lots of customizations, slide effects, possibility of downloading, creating and sharing your own home screens.
The App drawer (square with 6 dots) has ALL of the apps installed on the device. You put apps on the home pages by tapping and holding your finger on an empty part of the home screen, and then adding apps. You can delete them (from the screen, not from the phone!) by holding down on an app in the screen and dragging it up to the “delete” bar at the top.
With Buzz Launcher, you can change the wallpaper, and customize your Fire phone like most Android devices. The launcher offers more than 800 000 free themes and is ad-free. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support widgets.
Last but certainly not least! This is another quite popular Android launcher. For me it’s also the best launcher for Fire phone (because almost all of its features work without any problems).
It offers a bunch of very nice features: beautiful 3D clock styles, dynamic grid and scale, the ability to use any of about 5-7 predefined wallpapers.
What’s interesting is that it supports the Buzz widgets (which the Buzz launcher doesn’t support :D), so you can put a nice weather widget on your desktop together with other widgets.
Other Fire Phone Launchers
I tested more than 20 different launchers on my Fire phone to be able to choose the best ones for you. Unfortunately, most of them had some serious issues or didn’t work at all. If you know any other good launchers, feel free to leave me a comment or contact me directly!
Here’s the list of other custom launchers I tested on my Fire phone. Unfortunately, none of them allows for changing the desktop wallpaper or/and adding widgets:
