What To Do If Your Fire Phone Freezes & Becomes Unresponsive
Even though Fire phone is a great phone with really impressive technical specs, it may sometimes slow down, become unresponsive or even freeze. It happened to my Fire phone just once, but it happened!
As a Fire phone has a non-removable battery, you cannot use the most effective method of simply taking the battery out for several seconds and inserting it again.
So what do you have to do if your Fire freezes? Let me tell you all you need to know in this short tutorial.
Restart Your Fire Phone
If your Fire phone screen freezes completely so that you cannot really do anything with it, you have to restart it using the power button. This restart will work similar to how removing the battery and inserting it again would work (if you could do that).
Here’s what you need to do:
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds until the screen goes black.
- Your Fire phone will start up again as if you have just turned it on.
Everything should go back to normal now! 🙂
What If It Doesn’t Really Help & Your Fire Is Still Slow
Your restarted your Fire phone , it started up again, but it’s still rather slow and unresponsive. There can be several reasons for that (and possible solutions).
Outdated Software Version
Fire OS is constantly updated so that all the bugs and problems are eliminated and the overall performance of Fire phone improves.
If you have an obsolete version of Fire OS, you may experience some problems or not have access to some new features (like Quick Switch).
SOLUTION: Make sure your Fire phone is up to date. You can learn more about it in this article: Fire Phone Update.
Download In Progress
It’s quite normal for a device to be slower when you are downloading content (especially large content like HD games). You can check whether downloads are in progress in the Quick Actions and Notifications panel.
SOLUTION: Wait until all the downloads are complete. If there are problems with downloading some app or game, you can cancel it.
Your Fire phone may also be slow because it’s discharging. If it discharges completely, you won’t be able to turn it on for several minutes after plugging it in.
Connect your Fire phone to its charger. Wait for at least 30 minutes and restart your Fire phone.
Your Fire phone will not behave as expected if it’s kept in extremely hot or cold temperatures. You may permanently destroy it!
Use your Fire phone mostly in the room temperature and use a protective case for it!
